breakdown reflection
can you tell that graphic design is my passion?
in high school, my drama teacher told me that after all of the drama department's productions, he would blog in reflection about everything that went right and wrong. i think i should also emotionally reflect on my film, since i am pretty happy with how it turned out.
first of all, this was the first film that i have made in college. i know i made cringe ass apple video, but this is more along the lines of what i want to create as i move through college. i also want to make sure i am making more than just one film every year, since lowkey if all i get done is 4 films in these 4 years, i am lowkey mid at this shit.
i am really happy with how this film turned out! despite the challenges of not having a DP, (I'm looking at u evan) i was able to step in and make the shit i wanted to make. i wrote this script before coming to college, but i think that my first and second semester experiences have formed how the final product turned out. watching Lost in Translation really helped me create the feel for the solitary world that i wanted to create, with the color informing the feeling of the film throughout. this film pushed my comfort with audio engineering, particularly in the first minute/car scene and in the gas station scene. sifting through footage that didn't have me yapping in the background was difficult and so was putting together the sound clips in a way that matched the video, but i did it, and it is a massive improvement from my sound editing in The Heart, which is basically non-existent.
i am looking forward to the next films in the works, but i am happy with how this one turned out!
where's my paycheck??
